Pride Not Prejudice: A Digital Evolution
Automated data processing, robust verification tooling, and dashboards for all: The story of Pride, Not Prejudice’s 3 year evolution from a technology perspective.
In the thick of the Covid era, Planetjon and Ifs, Ands, or Buttons collaborated to launch what was one of the most memorable online craft and vendor fairs in eastern Ontario, Canada. But, how did we get there?
Data integrity concerns led to many inconvenient product issues during our online show. To catch this ahead of time, we needed a way of programmatically inspecting and processing vendor listings data.
We needed to upload product photos to their respective listings in our catalog. We ran into some obstacles.
Our data processing pipeline flagged problems with the data before an import was attempted. We wanted our vendors to have access to similar support before they even submitted their data.
We had database queries for answering inventory and sales questions. We leveraged our website technology by embedding these reports in web views and this brought us and our vendors clarity during the show.
At the end of our online show we were thrilled to receive all of the ordered items, and eager to move them out of our operation base as quickly as possible.
